FOREVER AND A DAY

April 6 – July 6, 2018

Elaine L. Jacob Gallery, 2nd floor at Wayne State University Detroit, MI

FOREVER AND A DAY, a line chosen from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s poem, The Children’s Hour, is a solo exhibition of new works by Felecia Chizuko Carlisle from Miami, FL. The phrase has double meaning in this context as both a promise of protection, and a symbol of faith in eternal comfort for children that have been lost to terrible violence.

Through careful and poetic intervention, Carlisle awakens the senses with sound, action, reflection and light to create an enigmatic space where empathy may exist.

After a short period of collaboration with Dr. Mary Anderson, Charles Boone and Hannah Rittmeuller, a public performance was held during the reception on April 6, 2018.
